This is a totally new website and, as such, recent postings at the first website are not displayed. But this is the permanent website now so feel free to post all you like :-)
I'm really excited to have placed our deposit for cabin 9078. I'm partial to aft balcony's as you always have a great view. It is a little more expensive but for Paul and I it is worth it.
I've seen 5 Navy Londoners in the last 2 weeks and am happy to hear so much excitement about the cruise reunion. We have RSVPs from folks who will be attending for the first time and from those who have attended all of the reunions so far. It should be a great mix.
I've heard a lot of questions about accessibility. While the ships are big there are rental motor scooters that can be provided for a fee to make getting about easier. Amber our travel agent can assist with it. Amber can also assist with airport transfers and hotels the night before and after if you choose.
There are some folks who have never cruised with lots of questions! I can say that this is the best type of cruise for a first timer to determine if it is something they like or not. Also, since this is a weekend cruise with lots of activities, especially if you book tours on the 2 port days, going cheap and getting an inside cabin isn't a bad idea. You won't be in it much except to sleep and shower. If you have to have natural light a porthole or window cabin is a good option. I do like balcony's but this is where smoking is allowed (another reason I prefer an aft balcony so if I have neighbors who smoke it goes thataway).
I've also heard some folks question leaving from Miami during hurricane season, which frankly impacts the entire Eastern seaboard from June through October. My experience is the cruise line either routes around the storms or cancels and provides a new date at the same cost. Personally, I'm hoping for good weather.
A few folks are unable to commit now due to family issues, and for me personally I have a mother with dementia in assisted living. You can still put in a deposit now and if you have to cancel prior to the deadline for full payment ( July 1, 2015 ) you will get it back in full less a $25 processing charge. If you cancel after you pay in full you do get some money back based on the number of days prior to the cruise sail date. As for cruise insurance, it isn't worth buying until you pay in full but for a short cruise it may not be necessary. I will likely bypass insurance on this one.
Anyway - I'm happy to answer questions and see if anyone wants to do group excursions on our port days. I might just want to hit the beach but am open to other options.
Your shipmate,
Ann McDonald

Question......I noticed that several of the cruises do volunteer things in different Ports of Call, does this one have that option as well?
I am SO looking forward to this trip!

Yippee!! Congrats on your booking Irene.
The weekend personnel at NCL do not know if there will be any volunteer activities at ports but I will call on Monday and inquire, as that department is open regular business hours.
By the way, because you placed your full deposits for both you and your daughter, you now have a reservation number and have been assigned a room number. I will send that information, as well as all pertinent details, to you via email within 24 hours.
Regarding doing "volunteer things in different Ports of Call", the answer is: No.
NCL recommends you look online for individual organizations that may offer volunteer opportunities in Nassau, Bahamas. However, there are no volunteer opportunities available at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, which is NCL’s own private island.

I remembered Irene's question today and checked with a source of Volunteer Tourism.
They have volunteering available in the following ports:
ANTIGUA, ARUBA NETHERLAND ANTILLES, BARBADOS, BELIZE, COZUMEL MEXICO, ST. LUCIA (CASTRIES), ST. THOMAS USVI, and TORTOLA BVI
Our Ports are not included in this awesome project. However, if you want to find other organizations offering volunteer tourism, possibly doing a Google search for “volunteer tourism in the Caribbean” may bring up different organizations.

On the selection of cabins, what is the difference between family balcony and just balcony? My 2 daughters are planning on coming with me. I would like to get a balcony room. I am so excited for this trip!
Yes, a cruise is certainly exciting and something to really look forward to :-)
There is no difference between a Family Balcony and just Balcony in the room itself -- in the layout and square footage; they are the same.
The only difference is that Family Balcony can usually have a connecting room -- a door leading to the next room -- if so desired. Also, the location of the room, and I believe this is the main feature of a Family Balcony, is that they are located "aft" (back of the ship) which is nearest the children's activities.
For the 3 of you, the one bed can be divided into two beds, with the nightstand between the beds and a third person can sleep on the sofa -- it's a pull-out single bed.
If you check the stateroom page, I have included a Balcony floorplan, which is the same for both Family and regular Balcony staterooms, but gives you a different view of the rooms: http://navylondonreunion.weebly.com/sky-staterooms--rates.html
Thank you ~ Amber
